Reflections on Feed

Page history last edited by Elizabeth Burow-Flak 15 years, 11 months ago

When I read this novel, I think it is a story about a teenage-aged boy and a girl who live in a futuristic world where technology electronics and telecommunications are closely connected with human mind. It is really attractive to me, because when I was young I always imagined the future world, and thought about a lot of unrealistic things happened in that world. Of course I didn't think how the technology changed the world, I just thought there would be a chocolate house, human could communicate with all the animals, etc..

In my mind, "feed" in this novel can be considered as an implanted computer chip which can collect information and help people do various kinds of things that they cannot do nowadays. As the novel mentions, many things become things of the past, such as privacy. So I think there will be some conflicts that happen in human society.

I find many interesting plots in this novel, but when I read more about these plots I feel tired and a little bored, because I think if a person merged with electronics, he can actually do a lot of things with those power and energy, but he is no longer a "human being", he's just a part of a machine. Compare with that powerful life I'd like to live in a simple one.
