Convergence Culture, chapter 5

Page history last edited by Elizabeth Burow-Flak 14 years, 7 months ago

The place to post materials related to chapter 5 of Henry Jenkins' Convergence Culture, "Why Heather Can Write: Media Literacy and the Harry Potter Wars."

Some of you, in your posting will have the role of curators (that is, you will seek out and post relevant links and images to the Harry Potter books and fan culture).  Link to three or four relevant images or web sites, and in a few sentences, indicate why what you have linked to is important.

Others of you will take on the role of discussants, which means that you will post a response to any of Jenkins' arguments in this chapter in this chapter that you want to discuss.  For example, you might want to respond to what Jenkins asserts about censorship, education, or intellectual propery issues as they pertain to Harry Potter fiction and fan culture.   Length of posting by each discussant: equivalent of one to two double-spaced pages.

Please note: if your posting is writing-intensive this time, it will be less so the third time that you post and vice-versa.

Curators: Sean, Nan (Alexier), Guo (Cody).

Discussants: Safiya, Nianlu (Stephanie), Meghan (Meg).

Note: I will have you subscribed to the wiki by the end of the day Weds, 9/2.  You will receive an automated email message that tells you that you have been subscribed.  Follow the link in that email in order to log in to the wiki for the first time.
